The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent action-packed game that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for delighting in action and insanity with equal excitement, all while telling gripping, socially charged stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose creations have embodied all of those things.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game property, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' style by having a new location and cast of characters in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the creator.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX family constantly supports me with their steady belief and assistance.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone show. Every instalment is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the nature of society through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to work with Rob and present our mutual unconventional, ambitious sensibility to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
