The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Rocket League: But It's Not the Vehicle You're Dreaming Of

We already knew that The Simpsons was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole place where enthusiasts can experience the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to Rocket League, bringing along an vehicle customization option that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. However, if gamers will truly desire to use it is a different matter, as there's only one Springfield car everyone is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

While many gamers would undoubtedly love to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the famously flawed car the patriarch built himself in the classic episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what players are receiving. We aren't even receiving the Canyonero, the enormous vehicle featured in the tenth season. Instead, fans will obtain the family's everyday beat-up sedan, which they've been driving since 1989. Even though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an iconic element of the show. For those who analyze Rocket League vehicle dimensions, the Simpson family car shares the identical collision model as the Dominus.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

And it's not the sole customization item from the show coming to the game. This limited-time event will additionally feature a series of challenges to earn additional rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will require participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to the Simpson house, and travel a specific distance worthy of picking up the perfect donuts!"

While the full lineup of challenge rewards hasn't been revealed, here is what's been announced so far:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

If the key art is any indication, it appears fans will also get wheels with a TV displaying The Simpsons' title sequence, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts themed to burning tires and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the extensive The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which includes a completely new map of Springfield, in addition to a 30-day Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons event launches on November 1st and concludes on Nov. 17.
