The rugby star won 20 caps for New Zealand before transferring representation to the Samoan team.

Australian rugby league's administration has declared that participants who sign with the “breakaway” R360 will be banned for 10 seasons.

The proposed competition, which plans to launch in 2026, is seeking to lure rugby union and rugby league players with lucrative deals and a condensed fixture list.

Prominent NRL athletes have allegedly been contacted by the new league, which will include multiple men's clubs and four women's sides located in major cities worldwide.

The Samoan the player, who is with New Zealand Warriors in the league, has stated he has had negotiations involving the breakaway league.

Papenhuyzen, Lomax, Haas and Gray are also said to be weighing up offers from the new competition.

A group of union teams, such as Australia, last week announced a prohibition on athletes signing with R360 appearing in international matches.

“We have consulted our franchises and we've taken firm action,” stated ARLC chairman Peter V'Landys.

“Sadly, there will always be entities that attempt to hijack our game for economic benefit.

“They avoid funding in development systems or the advancement of players. They only leverage the hard work of other organizations, putting players at risk of financial loss while gaining personally.

“They are, in reality, imitating the sport.”

The league is co-founded by retired international Tindall and funded by private investors.

Subsequent to the potential union sanctions were declared last week, it stated: “We want to work in partnership as part of the international rugby schedule.

“The series is arranged with bespoke schedules for both genders and the organization will permit participants for international matches, as written into their agreements.”

R360 will request authorization for its plans from rugby union's governing body, the sport's administrative organization, at its official gathering in 2026.
