Performer Lola Young engaged in Legal Battle with Beatmaker of Her Hit Track
Singer Lola Young has initiated a lawsuit targeting the beatmaker of her popular track Messy in a dispute regarding composition credits.
The English singer has lodged an intellectual property court claim against Carter Lang, as stated by her attorneys claiming she was left with "no choice" after he alleged writing credits on a quartet of in her discography, claims she "firmly denies".
The producer from the United States and music writer has yet to commented.
The lawsuit was initiated in England for the singer and Sony Music Publishing on Wednesday. This occurred shortly after she called off all concerts "for now", following a collapse on stage in New York.
Metoric Rise
The singer shot to fame near the close of 2024 when Messy exploded in popularity.
It stayed a month at number one and ranks as the second most popular single in 2025 so far in the UK.

Young's representative refused to specify which songs exactly were involved in the dispute.
Producer's Background
Lang is one of four producers involved in Messy and partnered with her on a number of other compositions.
He made his name by working with R&B sensation SZA and currently stands as a highly popular beatmakers and composers in music, collaborating with well-known stars like the rapper, the pop star, Renee Rapp and Rosé.
