Around 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast found themselves experiencing outages on Monday morning after powerful weather events impacted the region, generating powerful gusts reaching 109km/h.

Substantial Hailstones and Widespread Damage

Homeowners reported giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in particular locations. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been affected by significant hail.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews activated to handle the extensive power failures.

Southern State's Climate Difficulties

At the same time, approximately 1,000 households in Victoria also faced power outages after the capital city saw its wettest day in a year and a half.

State Emergency Services responded to over five hundred emergency reports across the area, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

At one point on the previous day, over twenty-eight thousand power users in Victoria were without power.

Meteorological Predictions

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along significant areas of eastern Queensland this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.

The following day was predicted as the wettest day, with continued severe weather risk expected across different parts of both regions.

Safety Concern

Health officials warned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, especially given the ongoing climate situation.

This warning comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
