Realistically, they'd hope for an Ashes series in Australia where they remain in contention to secure the famous trophy following the initial matches.

Unfortunately, this scenario is off the table during this tour, after Australia's crushing victory by 82 runs in Adelaide left the home side leading three-nil for the fourth consecutive series on Australian grounds.

The loyal traveling fans, the organized fan base, have a large group traveling for the final two Tests in Sydney and Melbourne.

Furthermore, other tour groups who will celebrate the holidays down under, as well as families and friends embarking on a special expedition.

The Disappointed Travelers

The Ryding siblings are among those affected.

The group had their itineraries and entry credentials booked for the fourth and fifth Tests "a full year in advance", anticipating a historic English victory.

Instead, they have watched Australia dismantle the tourists in just a short period from their house in their hometown.

"All my colleagues has been giving me grief that the series is done for the last two weeks," stated Sam Ryding.

"We always thought that we would have the series on the line by the time we arrived."

Lowered Expectations

Hope was abundant regarding the team's prospects of ending their 15-year wait for a victory down under before it began.

However, the situation is now staring down the barrel of prolonging a streak without victory in the country to 19 matches when the fourth Test gets under way in the MCG on Christmas Day.

Ben Stokes' side - and their supporters - will be keen to prevent a clean sweep.

One sibling noted the "entertainment" of head coach the aggressive 'Bazball' approach in recent times had "renewed interest in" the five-day game for followers of the team.

However, the group said they had realistic outlooks for the remaining matches - and all they are hoping for from the players is "a show of spirit".

"Commentators consistently alludes to it, but it all is about fortitude. 'This style has been turned into a buzzword now that is just, like, impractical batting," commented another sibling.

"Over the course of five days, you should dig in. Wafting outside 'outside the line has never been in the fundamentals, and that is mainly the fault the batting lineup."

The Remaining Matches

When questioned if he believed England will secure a victory in the current series, one fan responded: "The evidence suggests the hosts are a stronger side currently."

"There is going to have to be several individuals that delivers for the team and produces a match-winning display."

Regardless of the result, the fans are excited about the trip.

"We are going to have a great time nonetheless," said Katie. "We have to go with that attitude."

"Naturally, it's unfortunate we aren't fighting for more, but we have invested a significant amount already."

"We'll enjoy spending the festive season in Australia. This will be a new experience for us abroad at this time of year."

A teacher, Katie is focused on enjoying the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her Christmas holidays.

"If all else fails, I've got golf to fall back on," Katie concluded.
