Four men have been detained following visuals featuring former President Donald Trump and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were projected onto Windsor Castle on Tuesday, coinciding with the president’s visit in the UK.
Police Action and Arrests
Thames Valley Police stated that the suspects were arrested on charges related to "malicious communications" after what they described as a "unauthorized display." The detainees included an individual in his sixties from Sussex, two London residents aged 36 and 50, and a 37-year-old from Kent.
The force noted that law enforcement responded swiftly to stop the display on the castle, where Trump was expected to meet the monarch during his state visit.
Background of the Event
The former president was associated with Jeffrey Epstein during the 1990s and early 2000s. So far, Trump has never been formally accused with any wrongdoing related to the late financier.
This trip follows just a week after the British top diplomat in Washington was dismissed due to his association with the convicted sex offender.
Early on Wednesday, a vehicle could be seen in Windsor showing an image of Trump and Epstein along with the text: "Welcome to the UK, Donald."
Security Presence and Protest Plans
An extensive security detail has been deployed throughout the area, with over a thousand personnel assigned to oversee activities in central London amid expected demonstrations by activist groups.
At the same time, the president and First Lady Melania will attend a meal with representatives of the Royal Family, visit the resting place of the late queen, and give a speech at a state banquet.
Demonstrators assembled in the town ahead of the arrival, emphasizing the divisive aspect of the trip.
