Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Compounds England's Injury Problems.

'Significant concern' for the touring side as Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

The pace bowler increased the fitness woes of the England squad when he left the field on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

The pace bowler experienced discomfort in his left hamstring after the final ball of the fourth over at the MCG.

The touring camp indicated Atkinson felt some "soreness" and would spend time off the field for further assessment "over the next few hours".

The final Test of the tour at the SCG gets underway this coming Sunday.

England have already lost strike bowlers one seamer to a knee injury and another paceman with an abdominal strain on the current trip.

Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as injury reinforcement.

Atkinson struggled during the first two matches, taking just three wickets.

He was left out for the Adelaide match, then recalled for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.

Surrey's Atkinson improved at the MCG, bagging two scalps with the ball, before adding 28 while batting as one of just three English batsmen who passed ten runs.

Post a single over at the end of day one, he resumed for the second day's play and dismissed the nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

Unfortunately, towards the conclusion of that over, he sent down a slower ball to Travis Head and promptly felt at his leg.

The English bowler was recalled for the Boxing Day Test following his omission of the third.
