Democratic lawmakers Criticize Trump After He States They Should Face Death Penalty

Lawmakers from the Democratic party expressed fury after Donald Trump alleged a coalition of Democratic representatives of being "traitors" and stated they should be taken into custody and sentenced "through capital punishment" following their release of a contentious video.

The Recording That Provoked the Debate

The recorded message, shared on earlier this week, features six Democratic elected officials who in the past served in armed forces or security positions.

"Like us, you all took an oath to protect and uphold this national charter," the lawmakers stated in the short video. "At present, the threats to our governing document are not only from overseas, but from domestically. Our laws are unambiguous, you can refuse illegal orders, you can decline illegal orders, you should refuse illegal orders. No one has to follow orders that contravene the statutes or our national charter."

The Former President's Incensed Reply

The recorded statement reportedly provoke a heated reply from the previous commander-in-chief.

On the following morning, Trump wrote on his social media platform: "It's called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL."

In another post, he declared: "This represents really serious, and Dangerous to our United States. Their comments cannot be allowed to persist. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???"

In a subsequent post, he stated: "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!" He also reposted a statement that said: "HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!"

Democratic Representatives React

Following Trump's statements on Thursday, House Democratic leader published a joint announcement denouncing the statements.

"Political violence has no place in this nation," they declared. "Representatives who participated in the video all worked our nation with exceptional loyalty and honor. We clearly denounce Donald Trump's disgusting and risky threats of violence against elected officials, and urge Republican lawmakers to vigorously do the same."

The party representatives also stated that they had been in contact with security officials "to guarantee the safety of these members and their families."

"Donald Trump must right away remove these unhinged digital publications and withdraw his dangerous rhetoric before he causes harm," the declaration continued.

Representatives' Strong Answer

The officials who appeared in the video also issued a response.

"We are veterans and security experts who value this nation and made an oath to protect and defend the national charter of the United States," they stated. "Our pledge continues forever, and we plan to maintain it. No warning, pressure, or promotion of aggression will deter us from that important duty."

"The significant point is that the president deems it liable to punishment by death for us to restate the law," they continued. "Military personnel should know that we have their protection as they fulfill their oath to the constitution and duty to follow only lawful orders. It is not only the proper thing to do, but also our duty."

They stated: "All citizens must join forces and censure the president's calls for our execution and ideological conflict. This is a period for ethical certainty."

Additional Political Comments

The Opposition leader also denounced Trump's comments and shared on social media: "We must be absolutely clear: the ex-commander in chief is demanding the execution of elected officials."

He added: "This represents an outright THREAT. All senators, all representatives, every American – without partisan consideration – should denounce this right away and without qualification."

The Republican House speaker justified Trump's allegation that the Democrats had engaged in "sedition", labeling the video as "highly unsuitable", stating: "This constitutes very harmful, you have leading members of the government advising military personnel to defy commands, I think that is without precedent in US history."

The Republican leader also according to sources told the press that in what he examined of Trump's messages, Trump was "explaining the violation of sedition" but that "legal experts have to parse the terminology and establish all that."

Executive Branch Response

During a executive branch meeting on later that day, when asked by a journalist, "Is the president want to put to death congressional representatives?", the executive branch representative responded: "Certainly not."

"Let's be clear about what the president is addressing," the representative said. "You have current representatives of the American legislature who worked together to orchestrate a digital communication to individuals of the American armed forces, to current military personnel advising them to disobey the commander in chief's legal commands."

She stated: "The sanctity of our military rests on the command structure, and if that structure is broken, it can cause people getting killed, it can result in chaos, and precisely what these congressional representatives ... are fundamentally supporting."
