Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
