Chalobah Poised to Replace Guehi in England National Team

Trevoh Chalobah in action

The Chelsea star followed his brother Nathaniel in representing England, becoming the twenty-first pair of siblings to be selected for the England side.

The Chelsea defender is expected to be added to the England squad to fill in for unavailable Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old footballer is set to link up with the squad for England's last World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Serbia, although it has not yet been confirmed.

The England team have already booked their place for the upcoming tournament.

Chalobah earned his initial call-up under England head coach Thomas Tuchel in May and then earned his first cap against Senegal.

In September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unlucky to be left out from the selection for qualifying games against Serbia and Andorra, and additionally did not select him for the next October fixtures.

Tuchel has been an important influence in Chalobah's career, having handed him his Chelsea first-team bow in 2021.

Chalobah has featured in all but four games for Chelsea this season, with the team in third place in the Premier League, in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals and in the group stage of the Champions League.

Guehi suffered a foot injury in Crystal Palace's Conference League win over the Dutch side recently.

There are expected to be other inclusions to the selection. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has confirmed that both winger Anthony Gordon (hip) and goalkeeper Nick Pope (a concussion) are set to pull out from the England setup.
